A rest day

Beaufort West

Beaufort West is a rather ordinary large regional town but it does have a number of attractive buildings built around the turn of the previous century.

The Dutch Reformed Church built in 1892.

We have decided to stick to our original route, for now, and head up over the Molteno Pass to Loxton a net altitude gain of about eight hundred meters.  The weather, which has mostly been very kind to us apart from the day to Willowmore, won't be playing ball for the next few days.  The wind is turning to blow from the north meaning we will be faced with hot strong  headwinds for the next while.  We're just going to have to take each day as it comes.  So tomorrow will be a short ride part of the way up the pass before we head up to Dunedin Farm where we hope to find a place to stay and to spend a day looking for Riverine Rabbits, one of South Africa's most endangered mammals.
