A rest day

Today turned out to be a complete rest day.  We didn't even get to do any bird watching.  Instead a little bit of work, some bicycle maintenance (replaced brake pads) and the laundry.

What did happen though was that our plans got a bit of a shake-up.  We had though we would be able to take our time getting back to the Eastern Cape because we only needed to be back for my mother's birthday in February.  The idea was to mostly follow Route 62 through the Little Karoo before taking the rough gravel route over Prince Alfred Pass from Uniondale to Plettenberg Bay and then up the coast to Port Elizabeth.

Instead, we got notice that we need to be East London, three hundred kilometers further up the coast, for a wedding on the twenty third of January.  So now we have decided to mostly follow the N2 back to Port Elizabeth where we can collect our Land Rover and drive up to East London.  We're cutting things fine and if we run out of time we will just have to hire a vehicle to get back in time.

Today's ride: 2 km (1 miles)
Total: 1,322 km (821 miles)
