I think I've got enough to go on now. I'm going to keep on with this first journal and see what it looks like when I make it public. In light of Jeff's huge backlog and with a three year old competing for his time, as a retiree, I think I will just go ahead and enter my journals by hand.

Hi Jeff,

Rachel had started to create a journal from our Bali to Boise tour in 2006, then canceled the journal. Now wants to again create and copy the journal with the address racpatbalitoboise....but that address pops up as already in use. 

Did the cancelling the journal the first time not cancel that address? 

Is there a way to now create the journal with this address?

When a journal gets deleted, the address/namespace associated with the journal remains reserved, to prevent someone else from grabbing the name in case the author wants to restore the journal at a later date. I've gone ahead and freed up racpatbalitoboise, so you should be able to use it again!
