As always, another great journal. Thanks for sharing it with us, and I completely agree with your final message.

Thanks for taking us along! My sympathies for how hilly and hot it got toward the end, but it's a learning experience. September should be better, and maybe less contour next time. This is more than we'd take on anymore ourselves.

Uzés really is a beautiful town - we've been there twice or maybe three times ourselves. In some ways it reminds us of one of our other favorites, Céret.

Hey, we've been here! 32 years ago, going the other direction on our return to Paris: https://www.cycleblaze.com/journals/paris1993/to-valgorge/. I wouldn't have known without consulting the journal.

What a shame that you rode this in the middle of a heat wave! The Ardeche Gorge is beautiful but definitely lumpy in the best of conditions, going either direction. It's really better off on one of the shoulder seasons.

The spelling lesson is interesting. Is Ruoms from a different dialog or regional language, like Occitan?

Or, out of vogue.

Thanks for an interesting journal. We also preferred the two to three weeks rides, easy to achieve riding in your own back yard without a 12 hour plane journey. It used to be common at one stage in the tandem community to quote the combined team age. We are now 158 going to 160 this year. The Grampies would also be in this range.

Fun to follow you two over some familiar territory. Congratulations on another successful tour. Have a great summer!

We used this type of laundromat in San Sabastian it was great how smooth it worked. It was also super clean without the gummed up soap dishes etc.

You earned the great views down into the gorge! Spectacular place and a tough climb even without the heat.

Over here on the Gorges du Tarn, they aren't eating at Grandma's! We are hoping the road will be quieter Monday morning.

Those cobblestones make me nervous. Do you ride them? At the slightest incline on cobblestones, I walk. They really slow me down. Jacinto fell on the cobblestones in Portugal. He had a bum shoulder already, and that fall finished it off. He had surgery when we returned home. Thus, nervous!
