Steve Miller/Grampies commented on a photo in 54: what marines fight for, waldo, gwathmey, wooden fist bump, train town, wade and the cigar, kugel, secretariat, the pineapple, ruritans, tree gobbling sign, shopping carts, buzzards bottom, cheapest hotel, no peeing

Nah, only men and boys would even consider peeing in a pool.

Ha! Wish I'd thought of that! That IS what it's all about.

... you sure about that?? You didn't try to get your fully- laden bike up in the elevator, then??

Surely there should be a Hokeecoe Key? It seems to me that, truth be told, that's what it's all about.

Mark M. commented on the new bike

This looks like it is to the humble bicycle, what the Harley is to motorbikes. I'm quite jealous of a few of these features, Mark. But maybe less so of the weight you'll be hauling! - you do always seem to get in good miles regardless, so you must be doing something right... 😊

Laura Seidita replied to a comment by Mark Bingham on a photo in 48: late start, larry, metro, into the arms of jesus, alive, the amazing tiny, the lane less traveled, solar farm, state #5, no shooting or stopping, painted trees

My reply left out the word "purple". The purple paint is what we look for if unsure. It was weird 30 years ago when I moved here but now just accepted. Scary how that can happen!

Glad you had a good vacation from your vacation - and glad to have to back on the road for my vicarious pleasure!

Huh... interesting. There might be some complications if the person isn't from Texas, though. :-)

In Texas, painting fence posts or trees at your property line is the same as putting up a "no trespassing" sign and honored as such. Not sure about anywhere else - I'd never seen or heard of it until moving to Texas - so take it for what little that is worth!

It's really nice to have my own personal research assistant. :-)

Laura Seidita commented on 29: world globe, squares, the trifecta, shrimp

I loved the squares in Savannah and would ride around them on the weekend - especially in the spring during azalea season.

Many memories here - it's where I got my first "real" bike and started riding recreationally with a local club.

This is cool - I never knew that was there!

Laura Seidita commented on 28: restrooms, smallest church, signs, dolly rogers, ian and bill, best jersey ever, second key card

I lived in Savannah in the late 80's when stationed at Hunter Army Airfield (just south of where you stayed). Not surprised by the bulletproof glass at the hotel/motel? as there were some really rough parts of Savannah you never went near (if you were "smart")!

MĂ€rzen (German: [ˈmɛʁtÍĄsnÌ©] ⓘ) or MĂ€rzenbier (German: March beer) is a lager that originated in Bavaria, Germany. It has a medium to full body and may vary in colour from pale through amber to dark brown.[1] It was the beer traditionally served at the Munich Oktoberfest.[2][3] The geographical indication Oktoberfestbier is protected in the EU and can only be used for MĂ€rzen that is brewed in Munich.[4][5]
