We generally eat one restaurant meal a day. After 7 is pretty late for us. In 2023, we tried to get to town in time to eat, but that was usually by 4 PM in Spain. We are in France almost a month - we will have to work out a routine!
5 days agoLunch, if you want a restaurant meal, is generally between noon and 2. Dinner after 7, with a kitchen-closing time that seems to depend on the size of town or village. Shops are often closed between noon and two. Many businesses, including retail, are closed one or two days a week.
This can be different in big or tourism-centred places.
That’s such good news about your knee. Onward!

One way to do it is to have lunch as your restaurant meal. Menu du jour is often available Monday-Friday and is usually very good value.
5 days agoAt home, we rarely eat before 7 so France works well for us. Spain can be challenging in terms of meals!
