Keith Adams commented on Day 13 - to The Georgetown House, Washington DC

Once you're downstream from Brunswick, you're in my home territory. The Great Falls Visitor's Center is ten miles from my house. If there's anything you need or any assistance I can offer don't hesitate to ask.

Tony's Pizza and the Desert Rose Cafe in Williamsport are among my go-to sources of food in that area, in case you're in search of sustenance.

There's also a hiker/biker campsite (Jordan Junction) maybe a mile and a half upstream (short of town) from Williamsport, where the Cumberland Valley campsite is slightly farther downstream from town.

Check the NPS C&O Canal website for current info on closures; some sections have been closed or temporarily rerouted. I noted that the site mentions "steep stairs" to access the Williamsport Visitor's Center (and town) from the Cushwa Turning Basin - the typical point of access. By the time you arrive that may have changed but you'll probably want to check conditions a few days in advance unless you like surprises.

Keith Adams commented on Day 10 - to Ridge Rider Campground, Little Orleans MD

There are also free camping spots for hikers and bikers right along the towpath itself. Each one has a porta-john and a hand-operated pump; a water filter can take out a lot of the iron and cloudiness-producing solids, but the water is potable as-is if you're not fussy.

The campsites are spaced about every 5-10 miles (roughly) and generally also include a fire ring and picnic table. They *can* be a bit on the muddy side if it's been we recently, and *will* be full of mosquitoes in warmer weather.

At that time of year, you're less likely to be called on to share a site but they are definitely large enough that more than one party can fit without being right on top of one another.

When you get to Brunswick, Beans in the Belfry is a great place for breakfast. It's a desanctified church, converted to a funky little cafe / coffee shop.
