5 months agoThey actually are one of the easy ID details because they just hang on. Kind of like the chain fruit chollas, only these turn yellow and do not form chains. If the branch dies and they fall to the ground, then the seeds can sprout when moisture becomes available.
Desert life is quite interesting!
Thanks Bill. I suppose the fruits are sucking whatever moisture that cholla can spare.
5 months agoCorrect. It is a walking stick cactus/cane cholla. So shrivelled up though!
