"Rest" day 3: Grinnell Glacier hike

If you go down in the woods today...

Grinnell Glacier is a nice, manageable hike. It doesn't offer much in the way of shade on a hot day, but once you get climbing, the views are spectacular, and only get better the further you go. We ran into ptarmigan guy on the way up. He was leading the ranger-guided hike of the day.

The glacier is still a glacier, although it has diminished over the years. I guess we Washingtonians take such things for granted due to the presence of high-altitude volcanic mountains.

A family of mountain goats appears to frequent the area. They are not afraid of humans. I was happy to see that hikers kept a respectable distance while taking photos.

Grinnell Glacier, here we come!
