Sunday altitude ride

Quiet pastoral roads

We started our Sunday ride along the river and then turned up the valley toward Mizoën. This leads to the Col de Sarenne and then to the back door of Alp d’Huez.

The green forested valleys gave way to grasses about the tree line. It got a bit cool up there but still fine.

We stopped at a remote cabin on top of the mountain offering drinks, omelettes, and stinky cheeses made from their nearby livestock. Some multi-day hikers were there too. It was really a unique place to enjoy some time.

We then went partway down the Alp d’Huez route, then turned North along a balcony road towards Villard-Reculas, and down near Allemond.

We had a fantastic takeout pizza and Calzone from L’Origan back at the cabin.

I have never seen this before, but it seems to work. Utility scissors for the pizza. Hmmm…
