Parsons to Waverly: Staying ahead of the storms

This was the first day we took no wrong turns. It was hot and humid and we faced several long steep climbs. The forecast was for severe storms to move in overnight with the possibility of tornadoes. We got an early start in case the storms arrived early and actually had some warnings from locals along the way. At a small mart the woman running the store was preparing to close up shop and go home to her storm cellar. We received an exciting text message today from daughter-in-law Lisa informing us that our grandchild (expected in September) is going to be our second granddaughter. As we continued along, I could almost hear the plans for hair ribbons and pretty dresses bubbling inside Rhona's head.

Once again we elected to shop for groceries instead of going to a restaurant. Frustratingly for Rhona there was little fresh food, no apples or greens. To soother her grumpies over this, she bought a pint of Moose Tracks ice cream. Dodged that bullet!

Today's ride: 60 miles (97 km)
Total: 573 miles (922 km)
