Day 069 - Wakefield, MI to Ashland, WI

Heart 1 Comment 0

Today was a MUCH better day than yesterday.  The fact that today's ride was mostly downhill played a part, but mainly I was in the right state of mind.  Yesterday, I just couldn't get into the groove and it made for a very long day.

I spent the entire day on US-2, a moderately busy highway but one that has a decent shoulder.  (I'll follow US-2 again tomorrow on my way to Superior, and then will pick it up again in North Dakota and follow it clear across Montana.)

A large figure that is not Paul Bunyan or Sasquatch.

The shoulder was too rough to really let go. It's probably just as well. :-)

A little Ashland history in Bayview Park.

I was just getting ready to leave Bayview Park when a van pulled up and the driver asked my what type of taillight I had.  I told him and a very long conversation ensued. It turns out that Steve & Sue are fellow recumbent tandemists and are on a short cycling vacation.

Sue & Steve from Milwaukee.

Steve said they just recently bought their van, specifically to haul their tandem. Jeanna & I have been discussing the same thing.

Kelly IniguezYep - I have a Town and Country van. One of their advertising points is that the seats fold flat into the floor and you can store a 4x8 piece of plywood, flat. How much longer is your tandem than the Phoenix?
