Day 116 Venise-en-Quebec, QC

Heart 0 Comment 0

When we looked at routes last night, we realized we could take off a lot of feet of elevation by going the long way to Venise-en-Quebec.   We added seven miles and subtracted six hundred feet.  I think when we were doing these routes at home last winter,  we thought that by this time in the trip the climbing would be pretty easy.  NOT!

As we were leaving the B&B, (well, the B anyway - they stopped serving breakfast nearly a year ago)  a couple who was also staying there stopped to talk.  It turns out that they had seen us on the road a week ago.

It was fun talking to you. I'm sorry that I didn't get you names.

Also at the B last night were two couples who stopped to take our picture this morning.  Thanks for sending the pictures to us!

It was a pleasant day.  We are riding through much the same scenery as we've been seeing - mostly dairy farms and crops.

Today the crop was corn.  We rode past huge corn fields.

We also saw some apple orchards.

One thing we haven't seen recently are poultry farms.  The sign at this one showed chickens.

And this one said it was turkeys.

The best thing about today's route was that we went around, rather than across the mountains.

Tonight we are in Venise-en-Quebec on the north shore of Lake Champlain.  The lake views are beautiful and the town is very pretty.  I'll try to get some pictures as we leave in the morning.

Today's ride: 53 miles (85 km)
Total: 4,330 miles (6,968 km)
