Day 87 Fair Haven, NY

Today we had two routes from which to choose. The A route was 12 miles shorter and 500 feet less elevation gain than the B route.  Team S chose route A.  Team B, strong and powerful as they are, chose route B.

It was a nice ride for us with a few challenging hills.  We had to use our "four on the floor" lowest gear on the last hill.

Much of today was on Route 3 which had a nice clean, wide shoulder.

We see a lot of decaying and collapsing buildings, mostly old barns and farm outbuildings.

Sometimes, we see one that looks as if it should really be saved, but the cost would likely prevent someone from trying to restore it.

And, there were many more prosperous farms all along the route today.

It was nice to have a short ride and get in early today.  We've been enjoying a lazy afternoon on a cool shady screened porch at a lovely B&B.  It's a mini rest day before tomorrow's long day and our largest elevation gain since Missouri.

Today's ride: 34 miles (55 km)
Total: 3,961 miles (6,375 km)
