Matsuyama to Hojo: A visit to the Dogo Onsen

We enjoyed breakfast in bed at the love hotel and then packed up and rode back into Matsuyama to visit the famous Dogo Onsen and do a bit of sight seeing.

We started off at the Dogo Train Station and the Borchen Clock.

Then it was into the onsen which was everything I was hoping for and a lot more. We spent an hour and a half scrubbing, soaking and relaxing in the boiling hot water before finishing off with a cup of green tea and rice cakes.

We wandered around Dogo Park and the Ishite-Ji Temple before having a vegetable curry at a CoCo.

After that we slowly cycled off to Hojo, about fifteen kilometers out of Matsuyama to set up camp in a sports park. Thanks to Anita O'Donnel whom we met on the cycle path between Kyoto and Nara for logging the location of the park on the Free Camping and Hot Springs in Japan Facebook page.

Today's ride: 34 km (21 miles)
Total: 728 km (452 miles)
