Bike and Hike

We took off in a misty, moisty, morning riding along the Saar river headed for Mettlach.

It was a chilly misty morning riding out of town

Today much of our ride was on red crushed gravel pathways and even a little Single-track thrown in.

Along the way we stopped at a small chapel at the top of a hill overlooking the Saar.

The chapel was at the top of a very long uphill climb, we were glad to get off the bikes and explore a little

We had our coffee break and apple strudel in Mettlach.

Then we went on to the Slinge where the Saar river bends back on itself and forms a skinny horseshoe. Then we hiked to the top of the overlook to see the slinge from above. We hiked through the woods up to the overlook and back down a total of 6.4 km.

We started the hike from Fähre Welles and hiked to Aussichtspunkt Cloef.

The trail was dirt and in some places rocks

There were a couple of flights of stairs

We passed by an ostrich farm. At the ostrich farm we were to turn right…

The view from the top was amazing. The river really does turn in a horseshoe

Our bikes are down by that black square ish building

Then it was back to Mettlach, lunch and to meet the Zwaan.
