Mountains all around. It is still fairly early, traffic has not yet picked up.

All along the roads are special pads for these howitzers used to set-off avalanches. One is on display at the summit.

A downhill takes us to a beautiful glacial river, then another climb we did not expect. We are not used to touring with GPS, the map function on CGOAB is fun, but I'm not sure if we always want to know what is coming. It might discourage us.....

Lunch break in good spirits. Old habits die hard. From the days I did not have waterproof panniers, we still line them with heavy duty plastic bags. The white material does keep stuff more visible inside, and when that tub of oil leaks it is easier to deal with.

Downhill to Golden BC. Not the prettiest place we've ever been to. But there is a nice municipal campground and a good brewpub nearby where we celebrate our Northernmost point with Dan and the Canadian cyclist.

I already skipped to the beer at the end of the day in the previous picture. All it took was one more flat tire to fix before we made it to town. My worn out Continental top touring tires do not stop those pesky little steel wires that shed from truck tires any longer.
