We had a wonderful cruise on Hà Long Bay to celebrate Leigh's birthday starting with a three hour bus ride to the harbour at Tuần Châu where we boarded a tender to take us to the ship waiting in the bay.

Quite a few wrecked ships. Not sure if this one was a result of Typhoon Yagi.

We were happily surprised at how our cabin had been decorated. Spot the spelling error. Leigh's birthday is only tomorrow but we're celebrating today.

Drinks prices are rather steep on the ship so there is an opportunity for local entrepreneurs to take advantage of the shallow freeboard and sell beers and wine to passengers whose cabins are on the lower deck - at almost the same price as the ship prices by all accounts!

First activity was an hour or so of kayaking.

Cooling off in the pool after the kayaking. It was only about twenty centimeters deep and came with a "No Diving Allowed" sign.

Our dinner table was also dolled up with birthday greetings. Better spelling this time.

And a birthday cake baked by the ship's chef.
