To Oban

Another dreary day, but without the wind.  After much back and forth discussion we decided to take the direct 30 mile ride along the highway to Oban rather than the long (55 mile) quiet, beautiful route along Loch Awe.  A painful but wise choice, as was confirmed by rains which persisted most of the way to Oban.

We arrived a bit less soaked than yesterday, about 1, at our B&B - one of a row of stately inns lining the seaside colonnade by the edge of town.  We made the best of the days, getting in a good visit of the town - stopped in at a bookstore to refuel (lots of time to read!) and had a wonderful lunch at Julie's coffee shop.  The highlight was a delicious bowl of apple-parsnip soup.  We also had a great fish dinner - I had an entire dover sole - and then caught the final episode of star wars.
