Into the desert!

San Diego to Alpine

We were sitting at breakfast this morning and who walks up and says hello but Antoine! Our warm shower host from Santa Barbara! He took the train to San Diego to spend the weekend and he is staying at Lucky D's! What are the chances of that happening? It was fun to chat.

We packed up our room and Caroline who was our dorm mate was close by in case we needed anything. She was a perfect dorm mate. We all bonded immediately.

We headed out by 9am with the threat of Santa Anna winds out of the east and north. They never came. We had a gorgeous day and we climbed 2525 feet up to Alpine.

Here we go!

We are staying at the Alpine Ayers Lodge. They gave us a great price and then upgraded us when we arrived.

Bill ShaneyfeltEager to see what you find in the desert! I grew up in Mojave, CA. Age 10 to 21 and then spent 4 years in AZ as I finished my Zoology degree at ASU in Tempe, got married, and then moved east for work.

Bill ShaneyfeltWell, it at least gives me a vague sense of where to start looking. Google is the one that actually knows! :-)
