North Island cycling - Triple Trails NZ - CycleBlaze

North Island cycling

I am in NZ for 2 months to both golf and cycle.  I will limit the content of this blog to all things cycling with maybe a few exceptions.  We arrived on Feb 2 and much to our dismay our golf clubs stayed in Vancouver.  There was no excuse for this since we had lots of time between flights.  The end result was it took 3 days for them to arrive so we missed our first tee time.  We have since played golf and will play a lot more.

Now onto the cycling.  The Hawkes Bay region has an amazing trail system of 200+kms that wind through farmer’s property, through vineyards, and along rivers and the ocean.  We have rented hard tail Mtn bikes from a local shop for a month to make maximum use of the trails.  Today John and I did a shake out ride from Havelock North where we are staying to the village of Clive and back.  We stopped at a local winery on the way home for a tasting and of course a purchase.
