Back in Khlong Wan 🥰

First a soup at the roadside 🥰

We had met once before - on the day when we really got soaking wet and discovered the now favourite beach - an about ten-headed men's bike group (Western European phenotype) without luggage. Today we met another of the same strength and then later again about 20 men and women. All with the same jersey and with the „broom wagon/sweep car“ behind it.
We will look at Thailand Tours, where their tour will be headed - if we are bored 😉

Otherwise, our app wanted to send us over impassable roads - we had to take Highway 4 in the end. Eleven years ago, it was actually not particularly unpleasant to drive on the shoulder of the highway. A few trucks, many mopeds and a few cars.
Now it's no longer fun - almost no mopeds, many trucks, many cars, now and then tour buses in column.

Fortunately, it was not too long (8 kilometers) - and we hit the 1000 kilometer mark there 💪🏼👍🏼👊🏼

Shortly before Khlong Wan is the local aquarium - there we stopped briefly and were pleased about the fish sculptures set up outside. The further way led then again beautifully along the beach into the village.

At the entrance to Khlong Wan behind me splintering / clattering - I do not know.
But Ute rolls on.
Relatively shortly thereafter no more - flat tire. The first one, shortly before the end of the fifth Asia tour. So after about 5000 kilometers of partly rather inhospitable terrain it happens shortly before the end at the entrance to the village - and a few hundred meters further there is a workshop. Of course we would have done it ourselves - but the man with the tools was great. Patching failed due to the size of the damage - new tube (from our own toolbox 😉) was handed over and expertly installed 👍🏼

We have a room in a small hotel, our own balcony, have spend some time at Ao Manao - a very beautiful (and populated by old Swedes) beach, went to dinner and will let the definitely last beach day end on our balcony.

It's still a bit surreal that it's almost over 🙄

This is the way we then took - so 8 km on Highway 4. Since we did not want to go back 3 km to the next U-turn in our direction, we used the little paved road next to the Highway for about 1 km and then crossed under it (picture after the next one)

At this sign we came to Highway 4 - so if you go down the coast, you can leave here and turn to rural roads

We did our first U-turn on the Highway - not my favourite, but ok..

Zurück in Khlong Wan 🥰

Zunächst eine Suppe am Straßenrand 🥰

Wir hatten zuvor ein Mal - an dem Tag, als wir wirklich patschnass geworden sind und dafür den Lieblingsstrand entdeckt haben - eine ca zehnköpfige Männerradgruppe (westeuropäischer Phänotyp) ohne Gepäck getroffen. Heute kam uns eine weitere gleicher Stärke entgegen und dann später noch mal ca 20 Männer und Frauen. Alle mit dem gleichen Trikot und mit Besenwagen hinten dran.
Wir werden mal bei Thailand Tours gucken, wo die so lang fahren - wenn uns langweilig ist 😉

Ansonsten wollte unsere App uns über unwegbare Wege schicken - wir mussten letztendlich doch Highway 4 nehmen. Vor elf Jahren war es eigentlich nicht sonderlich unangenehm, auf dem Seitenstreifen des Highway zu fahren. Ein paar Lkw, viele Mopeds und wenige Pkw.
Inzwischen macht es keinen Spaß mehr - so gut wie keine Mopeds, viele Lkw, viele Pkw, ab und an Reisebusse in Kolonne.

War nicht allzu lang das Stück (8 Kilometer) - und wir haben dort die 1000 Kilometer voll gemacht 💪🏼👍🏼👊🏼

Kurz vor Khlong Wan liegt das hiesige Aquarium - da haben wir noch mal kurz halt gemacht und uns über die draußen aufgestellten Fische gefreut. Der weitere Weg führte dann wieder schön am Strand entlang ins Dorf.

Bei der Einfahrt nach Khlong Wan hinter mir Splittern / Scheppern - ich weiß es nicht.
Aber Ute rollt.
Relativ kurz danach nicht mehr - Platten. Der erste kurz vor dem Ende der fünften Asien-Tour. Also nach ca 5000 Kilometern teils eher unwirtlichen Geländes passiert es kurz vor dem Ziel am Ortseingang - und ein paar hundert Meter weiter findet sich eine Werkstatt. Wir hätten es selbstredend auch selbst geschafft - aber der Mann mit dem Werkzeug war prima. Flicken aufgrund der Größe des Schadens fehlgeschlagen - neuer Schlauch (aus der eigenen Werkzeugkiste 😉) angereicht und fachmännisch eingebaut 👍🏼

Haben ein kleines Hotel mit Balkon und sind noch zum Ao Manao - einem sehr schönen (und von alten Schweden bevölkerten) Strand gefahren, waren essen und lassen den definitiv letzten Strandtag ausklingen.

Es ist noch ein bisschen unwirklich, dass es schon fast vorbei ist 🙄
