Leaving Nagasaki (18th March)

Left the hotel in Nagasaki at 11am, with the intention of getting the ferry from Moho Ferry terminal across the bay to Tomioka.

Unfortunately when we arrived the next ferry had been cancelled due to choppy seas. The lady said they’d make a decision on the next crossing at 3pm.

We decided to wait the few hours until then. A couple of the locals chatted to us outside, one of whom told us of his stories of hitching in Europe.

3pm rolled round and unfortunately the ferry would not run. It meant a cycle along busier roads for us, to get to a camping spot.

When we arrived at 16:30, the campsite caretaker said it was too late for us to camp. But I explained our situation, and when he realised we were tourists he softened up and let us stay for the night.

Cooked ramen on the stove (picture pending WiFi)
