Day 11 - Elko B.C to Sparwood B.C.

Last night was pretty windy, we had a little rain, and sleep was intermittent at best. We set out from Elko in a minor wind storm and for the first hour or so encountered fairly gusty conditions. Thankfully the wind faded by mid-morning and the day turned very pleasant. The views were improving and the road was relatively flat. We stopped in Fernie for a late second breakfast and picked up some groceries. We then continued on down Highway 3 to Sparwood where we found camp space at the Mountain Shadow RV Park. Good thing too, the traffic on Highway 3 really picks up by early afternoon.

After setting up camp, we walked about a mile to Sparwood's small downtown area, where we had an A&W Root Beer Float, did some Laundry and had a cold one at a Canadian Veterans Hall. (take your hat off or you'll have to buy us all a round, a local told me, my bad) Later, ate dinner at a Chinese Restaurant. Life is good.

Views were improving as we set out into the wind

Highway 3 heading north east. Traffic was tolerable early on, by early PM not so much.

Fernie was the first sizable town we had encountered. It even had a Starbucks were I re-supplied on their instant coffee.
