We're staying overnight in the gymnasium of Sanderson High School, across the street from the Terrell County courthouse pictured below. Dinner and breakfast will be provided by the First Baptist Church as a fundraiser. 

In June 1965, much of downtown Sanderson was destroyed by a flash flood that came through Sanderson Canyon and killed 27 people. Though it's the most populous community in the county, fewer than 900 people live in Sanderson these days.
