Erawan Village to Ayutthaya

After a lazy start with a breakfast of pork satays and sticky rice from a roadside vendor we set out for Ayuthaya.

The road to Ayutthaya was mostly on back roads following the canals but there was one dreadful section cutting across Highway One that we really didn't enjoy.

The last twenty kilometers were into a stiff headwind and the traffic was getting busier so we where more tired than we expected when we got to Ayutthaya and settled into the AXY Guesthouse. This was enough to persuade ourselves that there was no point in cycling into Bangkok tomorrow and that we would spend the morning visiting the ancient temples and catch the train to Bangkok in the afternoon.

After a shower, lunch and a rest, we cycled around the historical park, mostly surprised at how much of it we had missed five years previously.

Today's ride: 87 km (54 miles)
Total: 5,201 km (3,230 miles)
