Day 23

The “W’s”

miles 51.7.    Elevation:  820feet-gain

Wind  12-15 mph

Alpine Tx.- Sanderson Tx.

The Wind & the West Texas Hills kicked butt today. 12-15 mph Eastern head winds with gusts to 20 challenged everything we had as cyclists today   And whoever knew that West Texas was so Hilly? Texas Hill Country, oh yeah! We met a solo rider today Ben who is cycling east to west, he told us that this was just the beginning of the hills but after day we are ready.

Remember the saying “ be careful about what you wish for” Oh how true. Remember yesterday when I was whining about my seat strut breaking & why couldn’t I have normal bike problems like a flat! Darn right, first thing this morning I picked up a lovely mesquite thorn, they do wonders on your tire.

Otherwise a quiet  challenging ride but we all finished. Arrived in Sanderson to find that on Tuesday everything is closed except the local gas station, perfect dinner of hotdogs, junk food & pecan ice cream🙂

Remember the Prada sculpture, Target advertising 50miles down the road
