07/23/23 Whitefish to Eureka via Roosville

Touched the border

It was an easy ride to Eureka, slight tailwind, no serious climbs and lots of lakes full of deep blue water. I got to town around 2, had lunch and hung around in the park for several hours waiting for the temperature to drop and to see what the winds were doing. About 5 I decided it had cooled off enough and the wind sufficiently manageable to make a 16 mile out and back trip up to Roosville to touch the border worth while. There’s not much up there but a duty free store on the US side and a border post on the Canadian side, but it does tick a box. I went up to the edge, took a photo and came back to Eureka.  I’m camped across the street from the Exxon station at the entrance to town. Nice, but noisy.

Lots of pretty lakes

Free camping at the riverside park in Eureka. No facilities but a dip in the river was as good as a shower

It’s not quite as idyllic as it seems
