My first, but not last beer, before bed. The brewery for my beer is near the hotel so very fresh.

Our cycling adventure along the Danube has officially begun.  Patti and I arrived in Frankfurt @8:30 AM local time with bikes completely intact as a packed.  We assembled them in the airport and then sought out a train to Donaueschingen.  We discovered in the process that you need a reservation on the fast trains when you have a bike and these cannot be made on the day of travel, ergo we resorted to 3 regional trains over 5+hours to get us here.  Nonetheless we are settled into our quaint little Gasthaus in Donaueschingen.

You may be wondering why I have not mentioned Ron and Carol.  Well, they had travel issues getting off the island and missed the flight out of Vancouver.  They are rebooked on the same flight 24 hrs later so if all goes well they will be here by 4PM on the 6th.

Once we settled into our digs for the night we wandered around a little to stay awake.  There was a local festival on so we had dinner consisting of soup, a wurst and deep fried apple rings from the street vendors.  The evening concluded with my first, but not last beer of the trip
