Real Country Roads

Dirt ‘n Gravel

Wellington to Gulgong

Daylight Saving Time finished last night so we had more light at 8:30 am at kick off this morning. Navigation was fairly straight forward. Follow the Central West Cycle Trail to Gulgong and Don't go to Goolma.

The main challenge today was adjusting our ride style to suit the unsealed road surface on about a third of the route. The big advantage is that there were very few motor vehicles until the final 25 km on sealed roads to Gulgong.

There was also an abundance of bird life, riverside scenery and enormous granite boulders along the rural backroad section.

We rolled into Gulgong by about 1:30pm,  checked into a cabin at the van park, unloaded the bikes and then had a look around Gulgong.

Sheer luxury for the bikes at the Bridge Motel. Their own lockable room and bike racks.

There is a sealed road alternative to Gulgong via Goolma but we chose the 12 Mile Road route. It’s part of the Central West Cycle Trail

We aren’t following the Central West Cycle Trail from Gulgong, but we did today from Wellington.
