Day 5. No such luck in Mudville, Mighty Casey has struck out

The sky outside was dark and gray and looking at the forecast it was rain for the next four days. And while I’m able to ride in the rain, and can certainly stand getting wet, riding in the low temperatures risks hypothermia I’ll bet. So in pure risk management tradition, I made an executive decision. It was 7:24 when I called this tour.
I could get a Lyft to each day’s destination to beat the rain, but since the purpose of a bike adventure is to ride, that idea is not quite sane.
I could skip ahead and wait four days inside, but again the purpose of this trip was to ride. And sitting in a hotel for four days would seem like prison, so that’s why I made the following decision.
I booked a Lyft XL right away to take me to Cleveland airport where I could rent a car one-way. Throw the bike in the rental and drive three hours; check the weather when I arrived to see if there were rain showers. If there was a break in the rain I could ride to my car - it was only 36 miles so it wasn’t too far. But no such luck I had to book another rideshare. Todd drove me to my car which was another $100 fare.
My adventure was over, that was for sure, but could I salvage one of the highlights of this tour? After all, I was in my car - OF COURSE! I could DRIVE to the National Museum of the Air Force! As far as airplanes go, they have an impressive collection, so I pointed my car in that general direction.

My ride was over and I left under rainy dark skies. I head south to Red Robin to get a burger and fries.
