Day 2. Let the camping begin

(Sorry for the late journal entry injection - last night I had a very weak internet connection)

With the storms having passed and the skies now clear it was time to get this ride into gear. 66 miles planned for the day rolled out of the hotel and I was away.  It was cool in the morning, but not quite enough to shiver so I pointed my bike to ride along the Olentangy river. Along the way to the Rose garden what was in store not one not two but three detour.

A few miles later why what’s in store but the Alum Creek Lake and the Alum Creek Dam tour. Though this route used the OTET alternate, it wasn’t anything that caused me to break a sweat. That’s also due to the weather, as I’m sure you’ll, see, the temperature was cool.

I have this picture to prove it’s not a fake that I rode over the dam to Alum Creek Lake

Today’s ride was on the OTET alternate, I rode over a dam not even breaking a sweat. Took me 20 miles to get to the visitor center but once I arrived, I promptly enter. at the centers, water fountain, I filled up my bottle, then hopped on my bike and pedal away full throttle.

I had a chance to travel on some prime winding gravel

Paul MulveyTo Bill ShaneyfeltThat’s probably it. It was definitely blue and seemed to emanate “phloxy” behavior

Are they hogs? Are they frogs? No, it’s a fountain of dogs!

At 56 miles my legs were burning as I climbed the aerial Park tower outside Mount Vernon.

Climbing the 224 steps to the 140 foot high observation deck may have seemed sort of aggressive, but you can’t deny the view from the top is impressive

In Mount Vernon, I needed to pick up some grub so I stopped and got a sandwich at Dave’s cosmic subs. Something you may see if you watch my channel on YouTube as I took the sandwich and strapped it to my top tube.

As I rode past I took note-of the large steam locomotive

If you wonder what the initials KGT entails that stands for the Kokosing Gap trail

I arrived at camp and had something to eat. It was Dave’s cosmic sub with all sorts of lunch meat. I ate dinner in the pavilion that provided some shade. Ate my sandwich with a side of chips and lemonade.

This is the first time I’ve ever come across dressing on a sandwich called “Dave’s psychedelic sauce “
