Blois To Saint Denis-de-l'Hotel

I converted todays route into road cycling on komoot and shortened it slightly to give us a faster ride. This meant we would be departing the Loire Velo route and taking to small and hopefully quiet roads.

Before we could get on the road we had one last compulsory stop in Blois, the award winning boulangerie, Maison Chatelin. This is the boulangerie we have been visiting every day and the food is spectacular.

Lining up for our last visit to this award winning boulangerie.

Maddie must have thought we would not see another boulangerie as she bought one of everything.

It was my last visit, I had to buy all these goodies.

The specialty of the day, mille feuille.

Once we finished consuming enough calories to power us for several days we headed out on to the road and Komoot and France did not disappoint. We had some traffic but the further we got from Blois the smaller and quieter the roads got.

Even though we were not on a designated bike route still a quiet road.

In true French tradition though our road soon turned into a newly laid bike path with a nice smooth surface for us to cruise along.

The French can't help themselves, a newly install bike path next to our road.

Since the roads were so good and we had made such good time we rewarded ourselves with another boulangerie stop in the town of Jouy-le-Potier for some lunch. This was a very beautiful little village with a church that dated from 12th century, a covered market and some nice half timbered buildings.

We sat on the benches next to the church and enjoyed the sandwiches we had purchased.

Kathy had selected a small desert item that we had not seen before, Choequette. It turned out to be delicious. The were sold by the 100 grams so we ended up with a nice full bag of these little Choux pastry balls. Maddie liked them so much she had to go back and get a photo of their name.

Chouquette.

We walked around the town for a while before getting back on the road for a last push to our destination.

In the afternoon we ended on a long section of road that had been converted into a bike path of sorts. It had painted bike lanes on each side with a car lane in the middle. The road was still two way and while we did not have any cars pass each other if they did they would have had to do some fine driving to fit past.

It had been a nice easy day of riding with the miles falling away. We had even avoid most of the head wind today.

The team enjoying the shaded ride with our own bike lane.

Our last section was 5 miles back on the Loire velo route. The route was  a nice smooth paved road elevated above the surrounding area which gave nice views in all directions.

The fab 3 back on the loire veto route.
