A Day in Pisa

It's raining, but sightseeing in the rain is still preferable to cycling all day in the rain. We have a dry room to return to whenever we want.

We can just barely see the top of the Duomo from our hotel room window

It's not just the leaning tower or the fact that the tower is leaning that makes Pisa so special, it's the harmonious ensemble of all the magnificent buildings on the Piazza dei Miracoli and the many other noteworthy sights.

We spend the day pedalling around town.

Cycling in Pisa is fairly easy, especially in the old part of town where traffic is restricted

Another Medici emblem, here on an old arsenal on the river. Pisa was formerly an important port on the Mediterranean before the river silted up.
