Beautiful Asphalt Ribbon
What a treat to ride this shaded asphalt ribbon. Today's ride was Indiana's 40 mile Nickel Plate Trail beginning in Rochester and ending in Kokomo. The weather could not have been better. Bright blue skies with mid-60's to start and high 70's at the finish.
I kept waiting for the shade to give way to open farmland and it did in brief bursts but the shaded asphalt was the rule.
After 21 miles the trail enters Peru where there is a 4+ mile road ride through residential areas. Once through the city, it was back to the shaded ribbon.

Laura and I met up about 8 miles from the end and enjoyed a pleasant ride to the truck. We loaded up and headed for Gas City where tomorrow I will check out the Cardinal Greenway, Indiana's longest rail trail.
