Merry Christmas everyone

Rachel and Patrick Hugens

On Facebook today a memory popup from 2006, cycling on Christmas Day into Siem Reap. As we celebrate Christmas in our home this year, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas...to all and to all still on the road.

What memories do you have of Christmas on the road?

This is ours:
In 2006, riding into Siem Reap Cambodia on long dusty roads...to entertain ourselves here is our version of Jingle Bells.
Cycling in Cambodia, Is not an easy task
Bumpy roads and dust, we have to wear a mask
Kids shout hello, goodbye, construction along the way
Oh, what fun it is to see the sights this Christmas Day
Dusty Roads, Dusty Roads
Dusty all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
A bicycle this Christmas Day.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays back to you and to everyone else.  And thanks for sharing your Christmas memory.  Inspired by your modified "Jingle Bells," I got into a poetic mood and thought I'd share a memory from last week.  It wasn't actually on Christmas day, but at least it comes from last week's mini-tour during the Christmas season.

Cycling through the snow,
On a Surly pedal bike,
O'er the bars I go,
Which I did not like.

I pick it up in shame,
Carry it on my back,
Only myself to blame,
So don't give me no flack.

Ohhhh, ohhhh . . .

Slippery trail, slippery trail,
Hard to stay upright,
Oh, what fun it is to ride
A trail that's oh so white.

Happy Christmas to all who observe it and a belated Happy Hanukkah to those of the Jewish Faith.
