We have just received the bad news that the famed Panaderia la Union in Tolhuin on Tierra del Fuego has burnt down. This wonderful bakery was one of the most famous casas de ciclistas in Patagonia. Emilio, the owner, enthusiastically welcomed passing cycle tourists to sleep in the basement of the bakery's warehouse which was equipped with beds, wifi and showers. We had spent a night there less than a year ago (see here). Thousands of fortunate cycle tourists must have taken advantage of his hospitality over the years. My heart goes out to Emilio ans his staff. There is an on-line fund raiser to contribute to their assistance here.
