3 months agoOh, well that’s funny. At least I didn’t call it a dogwood! Who knows where that came from? I almost pointed out that there are both star and globe magnolias blooming as well as the first azaleas.

3 months agoStellar's Jays were regular visitors to the back deck when I lived in Vancouver (Clark Co, USA). They loved peanuts.
3 months agoWe were hoping this might entice you to come up our way to see the Stellar's Jay, other local birds, and oh yeah, us.
3 months agoClinton Street! We saw her a number of times at Alberta Rose, but never there. In any case, neither was the one I referred to here. This was back in 2002, and I think in the open space by the Portland Art Museum. It wasn’t her show, but someone called her to the stage to solo a pair of Carter songs. I don’t think it had been long at all since his passing.

3 months agoThere is a birding trail near us that has red wing blackbirds, chickadees, towhees, and, drumroll please, Stellar's Jays. The Jays fly in and perch on trailside bushes, posing nicely while people fire off their cameras.
