I didn’t notice, but I think fire. There’s a photo further down that makes it clearer.
1 year agoAs a kid in Mojave, that would have been a superhighway for my bike! The normal was double track abandoned stagecoach route/jeep trails that turned into sand swamps at the bottom of every ravine. Either that or Sierra Highway with its 6 inch shoulder to the right of the white line.

Words to live by, no matter where you find yourself. That's why I go on bike tours, of course.
Keep an eye peeled for Greg Garceau- he's known to frequent roads like that one. You never know where or when he'll turn up.
1 year agoBut not horrid-looking, at least from that vantage point and the comfort of my office chair and computer screen. They make excellent defense against airborne Rockydarts®️.
