It took me a second to spot it. That’s quite a shade of blue!
2 years agoI found a site that had thirty or so shots of this bird. They’re generally brownish, but a few had this mottled bluish look. Maybe it’s just the time of day, or maybe it’s the time of bird.
2 years agoScott concurs it's a Japanese night-heron. They look brown in the photos I've seen, but this one is grey.

2 years agoGreat find! Japanese night-heron, I think. It makes me want to come back to Taiwan even more this winter. It would really help with the bird list.
