5 months agoI am really enjoying see our country through fresh eyes. The Hauraki Rail trail is I think a lovely ride particularly the part through the gorge. Good luck you have certainly given yourself a challenge
5 months agoI was wondering about jet lag so I checked. It's only a 3-hour time difference! Officially +21 hours but physically only -3 hours, sort of like people from Toronto visiting BC. New Zealand is moving up my list quickly!

Just a spot.. 😬
I find the left turns easy. It’s the right turns because of oncoming traffic and then getting back on the correct side but it’s coming

5 months agoHi Robyn,
Thanks for following along. No, I plan to be there to start hopefully about February 10th or thereabouts. Not sure exactly but way before the brevet.
Gotta love trail angels!
Wonder how long that tent will STAY white ;)

5 months agoHi Andrew,
I am looking forward to following your ride. I retire in May and this route is on my list, possibly in 2026. In fact, I would do just what you are doing, just skip that northern part and ride south from Auckland. Great minds think alike ;-)
Anyway have a great trip! Safe travels.
Karen
It IS convenient, Andrew :)
