Phew ! We're good at one pointers :-). Pity about all the cards but that is how the game is managed these days.

We didn't manage to see the Saturday night games because the 4G signal was close to nonexistent, even if I did have enough data. Would have loved to have watched the NZ-Ireland game. Not sure where your allegiances lie but I suspect you had money on two horses, so England's win cancels out Wales' loss. Nail biting result for the Springboks. Took a few hours for the adrenaline to subside sufficiently for me to fall asleep.

Sometimes it’s good to rest on a rest day. Even rugged travelers like the two of you need to recuperate once in a while!

Only fifty odd kays an hour. We were dodging truck tyre debris so we had to take it easy. It looks dramatic in the photo but it was less than five percent on average. However, the first bit, which I think is what you see me approaching in the photo, was about eight percent (if Komoot is to be believed).

It is similarly rugged but I think the valleys are narrower here. There's a lot of damage from soil erosion and I don't think that the construction of the highways has helped in that regard. Perversely, some of the most attractive hillsides are as a result of terrible scarring by erosion.

Looks a bit like parts of Spain we’re passing through.

Thanks Elsp. I'm naturally disappointed that the trip has been turned on its head, almost from the start, but it has meant we have seen things we otherwise would not have.

On a different matter, we're so chuffed for you and Mart getting to Cartagena.

It was also the least populated so far - another plus!
