Trujillo to Miranda de Ebro (by car)

A restless night, just a little worried about tomorrow's car trip, I don't know why. But by the cool light of morning I felt fine and we were packed and ready around 9:30.

Goodbye to our comfortable home-away-from-home for four days

On the way out I noticed the barbers basin, such as Don Quixote donned as a magical knight's helmet, a baciyelmo.

As a final parting gesture, Herman insisted on washing our windshield.

Susan CarpenterHow nice for you to have stumbled into such a kind and helpful host family - and they speak German! You definitely deserve some kindness after all you've been through this past week. Hope things continue their upward trend

We saw little traffic on the drive on the A-62 and we made good time, it felt more or less effortless. Well not quite, we had taken two stops to stretch our legs and for a snack, but we were both tired when we got out of the car at the end.

We pass Béjar where we know Rachael and Scott are staying today and waved hello.

Scott AndersonWow, those four days in the apartment went by fast! I saw you wave when you drove by and thought you must have decided to leave early. I waved my red hat at you, hopefully you saw it. Pretty hard to miss.

Suzanne GibsonTo Scott AndersonYes, I saw flash of red. At first I thought it was a redstart, but then recognized you and your hat.

Suzanne GibsonTo Rachael AndersonEnjoy Béjar! We had cold, rain, thunder and lightning where we are now, near Biarritz. I hope your weather is better!

After 570 km we were at our destination, Mirando de Ebro, about an hour's drive to the north of Burgos. Our hotel, Hotel Abade Via Norte, is not beautifully situated but it has everything we need - convenient parking, a  place inside for our bikes, a comfortable room and food.
