About

Over the Rhine neighborhood of Cincinnati beginning my 3-day 190-mile tour of the Ohio to Erie Trail to my home.
Overlooking the Danube in the Wachau Valley after climbing to the Shrine of Maria Taferl.
Lunch while touring Budapest by bike, the most beautiful city I have explored to date.

In early 2017, I stepped into retired life. Over the prior 10 years,I developed a love of cycling. Early on, I joined a friend on a self-supported tour of the Great Allegheny Passage and C&O Canal Trail. We knew nothing about bicycle touring and being self-supported on the bike. Those 330+ miles over 7 days showed me that touring by bike was meant for me.

Fast forward to today, I have cycled many of the state multi-day and week long tours. I have toured, self-supported and credit card,  numerous states with friends. After retirement, I made a commitment to venture outside of the United States and tour. I have spent 2 weeks on my bike in Hungary and 2 weeks exploring Southern Bohemia and Austria on my bike.

My goal is to be more independent and open to exploring the world on my own. I enjoy learning from others by reading journals and blogs. I hope that my time here helps me become the bicycle tourist I strive to be and help others with my experiences on my bike.
