Day 89 Waterport, NY

After yesterday's longest and hilliest remaining ride, today was the shortest and flattest of our remaining routes.  We left under dark, cloudy skies, hoping to stay dry.

A not very inviting marina under a not very inviting sky. It looked like this most of the day.

We had a few very light sprinkles, especially near the end, but never got really wet.  It was light enough that we all decided this wouldn't count as a rain day.

We're near Lake Ontario, but didn't have any views of the lake today.  We saw a few more apple orchards, tons of corn and some vegetables we hadn't seen in New York yet.  There was a lot of some kind of squash, green and purple cabbage and broccoli.  There were many roadside stands offering vegetables for sale.  Zucchini were three for $1.00.  I think this time of year, most home growers would pay people to take zucchini off their hands!

We passed miles of corn fields

We were surprised at all the weeds growing in this cabbage

There were several big fields of purple cabbage

Kerry is getting a closer look at this crop - it's broccoli

We were surprised to see fields of recently planted crops. This looked like beans. It seems very late to have young plants in northern New York

This is the view from our motel's porch. What do you see in the big tree trunk? I'll post what I see tomorrow.
