Day 53 Naubinway MI to St Ignace MI

It was 58°when we got up this morning an very foggy. As we were leaving town we saw a Prayer Park. It had a little chapel and some benches that I guess you can go and say prayers or just meditate. As you can see it was foggy. I wish we knew about this yesterday as I would have liked to check it out. It was still early when we rode by the Garlyn Zoo. That I would have liked to have gone to. We seem to always be early for places to visit. We again stayed on bike route 10 on route 2 East. If we had done the GPS route it would have added 8+ miles with steep hills. While we were riding in  fog it looked like the sun was trying hard to come out and actually looked white. We did eventually get to ride along Lake Michigan and needed to get a selfie even though you don’t see much of the lake behind us. We stopped at a little store looking for muffins but they didn’t have any but they did have an eagle out front. Yes, Hubs had to give “the eagle” with the eagle. Ann, look what you started!!  We did find out about Naubinway not having any grocery store. They had one but then a Dollar General came to town. It made the grocery store go out of business and then the Dollar General went out of business. Never knew a Dollar General would go out of business, so the only store in town is the little one at the gas station. We continued on and right before we went over this bridge we did notice a sign on the other side of the road but didn’t get to read it but we did stop on the other side of the bridge. We noticed steps going down and we were going to go down them when this guy and his little girl were coming up. He told us there were 200 steps down and his daughter told me that the mosquitoes were trying to get her blood. We said ok, not for us. We did stop across the road and saw the sign and a tribute so I got pictures. One picture reminded me of Oregon. I had to get pictures of the waves. At one point we felt like we were in St. Maarten, another in Cape Cod and another on route one in New Hampshire. We decided to stop and have a snack on the water. Time for selfies to see if we could get a picture where Hubs is actually smiling. The smile was achieved 🙂. We did arrive in St Ignace early and our room was ready. Love when we can check in early. We took showers,

A new milestone

went to lunch and then had to go to the laundromat as we really needed clean clothes. We also have a new milestone today. Tomorrow we take the ferry to Mackinac Island so we don’t have to get up early. Nice.

Today's ride: 45 miles (72 km)
Total: 1,474 miles (2,372 km)

Phil/Ann DettwilerBlessings to you on your special day tomorrow........we hope you LOVE every minute of it!! It's a special place and you deserve a day of soaking it all up. Love the fact that I got 'ol Hub addicted to the Eagle -- not everyone totally understands or applauds it, but it brings some of us together!! And the smile DID appear -- woot! woot! Wishing you a most terrific day tomorrow. Sleep in, have a great breakfast and walk in the sand.
