Day 19 Whitefish MT

July 6, 2023

Today was our well deserved day off. It was so nice knowing we didn’t have to get up early and we took advantage of staying in bed. When we finally showered and had breakfast we picked through our things to bring to the post office to mail home. We need to lighten our load. It’s funny as you think you have a lot and when you go to get rid of things, you can’t really find much to get rid of. We then stopped at an Outdoor & Ski shop to restock our freeze dried foods. I was so happy that they actually sold the protein bars that we really like. All this time I thought they were REI brand but turns out REI doesn’t have a brand. We got those and a few meals. As we were waiting in line,

Steve wanted a selfie so Hubs had to show them how he does pictures.

Hubs enjoying the hammock chair outside our room. Luckily later we were sitting out having dinner when he noticed he had left his sunglasses in the chair. That really would have been awful if he lost those.

there were some men at the registers before us. I heard one telling the cashier that they were doing the great divide. I told Gary and he of course had to ask. Well there were four of them together so we all started chatting. They started in Banff and we’re going to the Mexican border but then………..one of them confessed. So I said you mean to tell me you spell Mexico, M-I-S-S-O-U-L-A? Hahahaha. Turns out they were only riding to Missoula MT as a couple of them still work. One of them lives in Chapel Hill NC so who knows, Steve may be our warm showers host when we get there. We then went downtown to investigate the area. It is a neat place. We stopped at a great deli for lunch that had delicious sandwiches. There certainly are enough places to eat in town. We went to a bike shop and a few galleries and then got back in the car to ride around the neighborhoods. Then we brought the rental car back and walked back to the motel. Hubs was trying to get our next route on the gps and something went wrong and now he can’t get anything to come up. We will be lost without that thing. It has been working so well up till now. 🤞🤞🙏🙏🤞🤞 that he can get it back ( even though he has been working on it for a couple of hours now.
