I stayed last night at a Warm Showers Host, Blair Ellis Walker and his two roommates of which Dan was the only one I met.  Christian was at work. (TMI).  Anyway, we had a grand time joking and sharing points of view on life and people and cycling, etc.  Great sense of humor.  Blair has a partner, Katie, with 3 kids that lives 2 blocks over.  She and the kids joined us for dinner on the kitchen floor since Blair objects to a kitchen table.  It was like a picnic and the food was marvelous.  I got my fill. I slept on full size mattress on the living room floor and slept like a log.

This morning I got up before anyone else and got on the road.  No breakfast, but I snacked on convenience store food all day long.  The ride through Dayton was easy, since it was Sunday morning of the 4th weekend. I rode trails until I hit the northwest side of town, but then I was on a trail for about 15 miles.  When that ended,.... see below.

This is the beginning of the river trail that bypasses downtown Dayton. The trail actual goes down at the level of the water with a hundred Canada geese along the way. ...rode along dodging goose poop.

Bill ShaneyfeltYup, dodging goose grenades is a lot of work along the river! If you hit one, hopefully you have fenders...

Once the trail ended afters 25 miles, I rode mostly on farm rodes. If you're worried about no shoulders on these roads, not to worry. This pickup was one of 3 vehicles that passed me in 3 or 4 hours of riding. Note the corn is getting tall.

When I leave the trails, I take back roads which means .... hills. These were really nothing compared to the hills of Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Northern Maryland. Grades ranged here from 2 - 4 %

I'm staying at a cheap motel East of Richmond, Indiana.  I notice that the motels in Indiana don't have the taxes that have been added to previous bookings.

Today's ride: 49 miles (79 km)
Total: 1,622 miles (2,610 km)
