Back to the start in Munich - 2022 Spring Forward While We Can - CycleBlaze

Back to the start in Munich

We left Savionneres around 8 after doing a big clean up. Bucolic ride through the village, along the Cher and through the fields. As we got closer to Tours the traffic (bike) picked up — all groups going the other way. Baked goods wafted from the bigger bakeries (it’s not all craft-size here) and drew us into the town.

We took a lap across the two bridges that are the cycle crossings for the Loire, did a quick comparison baked good shop at a bakery, and arrived at the train station. At midday it had a surreal empty feeling. Such a different experience than summertime.

The train pulled in and people made their way out of the woodwork to fill it up. We tucked our bikes and bags into the storage area and started our journey back to Munich via Paris.

Beach along the Cher. A recent re-routing of the river to make a fish ladder might have created this. Seems really unusual as most banks are covered in vegetation.

First blooms — 3 weeks ago these fields had short plants on them.

Tours had it together for refugees. There was a nearby center for information, food, and accommodation directions.

Strausbourg had plenty of armed soldiers on platforms. Always disturbing.

Beloved West Park. Not pictured is the kiosk selling whole grilled mackerel. Picnics and festivities all around.
