The Pend Oreille River has been dammed and forms a long skinny lake on the way to Metaline Falls.

The "Rocking River Campground" about 12 miles south of Salmo has quirky themed campsites. No hot showers though, a bit of a disappointment, but the quiet and scenery make up for the lack of luxury.
